From our humble beginnings in Colchester on
13th October 2023 to our most recent opening in Stowmarket on 4th September 2024, we are a growing community of passionate artists dedicated to bringing the joy of performing arts to everyone.
Our mission is to inspire, nurture, and develop creativity in children, offering high-quality classes in dance & musical theatre. We believe in the power of performance to build confidence, discipline, and a strong sense of
community.
With experienced instructors, supportive programs, and a focus on creating a welcoming atmosphere, we strive to empower our students to express themselves, grow as individuals, and shine both on and off the stage.

Mini Movers - Classes for 3 - 6 year olds
Mini Movers brings the fun of dance to life! Tailored for young children, this class includes routines that can range from upbeat and playful to creative and expressive, with familiar songs like Paw Patrol and The Little Mermaid keeping kids engaged. With no strict dance genre, your little one will learn to express themselves while building coordination, rhythm, and confidence in a lively, welcoming atmosphere.
Urban Movers - Classes for 7 - 15 years
Urban Movers is ideal for children looking to take their dance to the next level. While suitable for beginners, this class introduces more advanced choreography with a dynamic blend of street dance and musical theatre. It’s perfect for kids ready to explore a wider range of styles and challenge their skills. Each term, the dance routines evolve, ensuring there’s always something new to learn and enjoy!
Maxi Movers - Our Brand New Adult Class!
Maxi Movers is our brand-new adult street dance class, designed especially for beginners. Whether you’ve never danced before or want to build confidence while learning the foundations of street dance, this class is the perfect starting point. Fun, friendly, and supportive – Maxi Movers is all about moving at your pace, building skills step by step, and enjoying the music as you grow.
Shows & Performances
We are committed to providing performance opportunities for our students. We will be holding annual recitals and showcases where students can demonstrate their skills. There are so many benefits of participating in these events, such as gaining stage experience and building confidence.

How old do you have to be to start dance classes?
Our classes at The Urban Stage Company are open to students from 4 - 16 years old. We believe that it's never the wrong time to start your journey. Our experienced instructors will ensure that the curriculum is age-appropriate, creating a supportive environment for every dancer to thrive.
What should I wear to my first class?
For your first class, wear comfortable clothing that allows ease of movement. A comfy T-shirt and leggings or joggers are great.
Do I need prior dance experience to join your studio?
No prior dance experience is required to join The Urban Stage Company. Our classes are designed to accommodate both beginners and those with previous dance experience. Our instructors will tailor their teaching to meet the needs of all students, ensuring that everyone can learn and progress at their own pace. Whether you're starting from scratch or looking to refine existing skills, you'll find a welcoming and nurturing environment here.
